Without a doubt, these are difficult times that we’re in. One day, we’re focusing on our living our best active lives. Then, in an instant, our priorities switch to dashing to the grocery store to grab necessities to get through the next few weeks. Our daily mantras and feel-good phrases have been replaced with more serious terminology like “quarantine,” “self-isolation” and “wash your hands.” Everything is cancelled and there’s nowhere to go except outside, so here’s a list of ways to keep your day hopping and your crew smiling.
Keep the kids occupied.
Parents have probably lost count of the number of times that they’ve heard, “I’m bored,” over the past few weeks. How about a little education, home economics style? Sew a button, make a meatloaf, wash the window. Good old-fashioned chores! Set the frequency to work with your schedule.
Host a virtual girls’ night.
Remember the days when you couldn’t wait for Friday night? We’re all longing for a little human interaction right now, so let’s make it digital. Have your besties update their apps and schedule a meeting. Everyone brings their favorite healthy appetizer and you meet in your individual living rooms. This works for coffee dates, too!
Try something new with your fitness.
This may take a little more motivation than usual, but once you get into it, you’ll love the new routine. Trade the treadmill for the trails or try some online living room workouts. You’ll be glad for the energy boost that you’ve added to your day.
Get creative in the kitchen.
Challenge yourself once a week to make a new recipe. Try themes like five ingredients or less, or items that you have in the pantry. The research alone could take hours! Meanwhile, try this one here: spinach and white bean soup. Hearty, healthy and comforting.
