SMALL STEPS TO A HEALTHIER LIFE

Pick three habits to focus on each month starting on January 4, one from each category below. On February 1,  you will pick three new habits to adopt, and on March 1 you will challenge yourself with the remaining three habits. By the end of three months, you will have adopted nine new habits designed to transform your lifestyle for the rest of 2018!

Eat Healthier

  • Eat real foods
    • Don’t worry about counting calories, just focus on eating real, nutrient-dense, unprocessed foods whenever you can!
  • Drink 8 cups of fresh water daily
    • Using a large reusable water bottle, makes it easier to monitor your water intake.
  • Have one nutrient-packed smoothie per day

Be Active

  • Do 45 to 60 minutes of physical activity (Yoga, hiking, walking, etc.) daily
    • When it comes to exercise, do what you enjoy! Just make sure to do something every day, even if that means simply going for a walk.
  • Try a new type of physical activity/exercise
    • Learn a new skill and work out at the same time. Whether it’s yoga, Pilates, paddle boarding or mountain biking, whatever it is, just try something new and stick to it!
  • Start your day with movement
    • Begin every day with some type of movement such as stretching, foam rolling, mobility exercises, or even just taking a stroll.

Recharge

  • Write down 10 things you are grateful for every day
    • Write them down in a journal or notepad first thing in the morning or right before bed.
  • Meditate for 10 minutes daily
    • If you don’t know how to meditate, try using an app like Headspace, or just sit quietly for 10 minutes and focus on breathing deeply.
  • Pick a time that allows you to get 8 hours of sleep, and go to bed at the same time on a daily basis
    • If you need to stay awake for a few extra hours because of work or a social event, try and sleep in the next day, and then get right back on track.
